Mustangs run away from the Tommies

Prologue
Off to Minneapolis Edison to see the Tommies take on #7A Maranatha Christian Academy.  No Josh Goldschmidt for MCA due to illness.  No walking taco either which is a disappointment.  The replacement of a C- hot dog wasn't up to snuff.  20 oz of Red Gatorade quenches the thirst though.  Quiet crowd and not much to see.  Though we did get a Chisago Lakes coaching staff appearance tonight.  We need a song so in the spirit of a mustang, we give you this.

Song of the Day
Born to be wild - Steppenwolf

Total Beverage Consumption Counter: 380 ounces  (36 games, 26 days)
  • 36 oz Dr Pepper
  • 24 oz Sprite
  • 60 oz Red Powerade
  • 40 oz Red Gatorade
  • 140 oz Pepsi
  • 60 oz Coke
  • 20 oz Barq's Root Beer
Game Time
Edison comes out with the 1st 5 of the game.  But Maranatha quickly responds.  A scrum leads to a Jeremiah Hanson layup.  Then Hanson for 3 and runs for another layup.  Hanson still has it going with a jumper and nice cut for a layup.  Damario Armstrong with a steal and nice behind the back pass to Max Lund for a 3 point play.  Jake Meyen (not to be confused with Roseville's Jake Geyen) with 1 of 2 free throws to end the 20-5 Mustangs run.  20-10 Maranatha at 9:32 of the 1st.  Meyen with a steal and nice foul line pullup before Cameron Munson makes 2 freebies and the lead is up to 17.   2 inbounds buckets including a Hanson 3 and add a slick Meyen pick push the lead to 24 just before the half.  41-19 Mustangs at the break.

The lead doesn't go anywhere for most of the half.  Jo Anderson carrying the Edison offense with some help from Daevon Abram.  Munson very productive around the basket for Maranatha.  His bucket just inside of 5 minutes left keeps the lead at 23.  Edison will have 1 last run to keep it somewhat respectable.  Chris Johnson with 2 of his 4 bombs, Anderson with a coast to coast And 1 and a triple and Jonah Togbah puts back a miss after a turnover.  That 18-5 Edison run cuts the lead to 10 with 1:20 left.  But the outcome is never in doubt.  An awful intentional foul call gives MCA 2-4 free throws including the possession.  Maranatha wins 80-65.

Post Game
For Edison, JoJo Anderson with 17 of his 21 in the 2nd half.  Chris Johnson knocks down 4 3s on his way to 14 points.  Daevon Abram adds 13.   Edison returns to Minneapolis City play on Thursday against North before going to the Cloquet holiday tournament.

For Maranatha, Jeremiah Hanson with 5 triples and 30 points.  Majority of those 3s from up top against the Edison 2-3 zone.  Jake Meyen with 15 and Cameron Munson with 12 of his 16 in the 2nd half.  MCA going with their own 3-2 matchup type zone for the game.  Goldschmidt hopes to be back for their home games vs Como Park on Thursday and Chisago Lakes on Friday.  Maranatha now 6-0 on the season.
