Another night in white

Prologue
Back to more than 140 characters tonight. A blowout last night and a cameo appearance at Highland Park by The Emperor mean no postgame activity for a couple of days.  Tonight its another IMAC team to cross off the list.  Last night was St. Paul Academy, now Providence Academy gets equal time.  The pizza makes a late arrival or I totally missed it so that means a rare venture into popcorn tonight.  Reasonable amount for price, not oversalted and enough butter to taste but not be a mess.  Not a goto item as popcorn isn't filling enough for my waistline, but it got me thru the evening.  Brooklyn Center may not have the red carpet but coach McCollister always rolls out the white suit coat when I appear.  Which means white has to be an obvious theme for today's tune.

Game Time:
Brooklyn Center has one of the finest mascots around (Centaur).  But for the 1st 3 minutes, the head of the beast was missing.  7-5 Providence as BC takes time to awaken.  And that indeed happens.  The Centaurs go off on a 21-5 run out of that timeout.  5 different players score in the run.  Lu'Cye Patterson and Devonta Prince pick up their 2nd fouls almost back to back and sit for close to the last 5 minutes.  That allows Providence to cut the margin to 12 at the half, 30-18.

Brooklyn Center stretches the lead out right away.  Prince 2 hoops.  Adreone Sprinkles a hoop and a 3.  Qentrell Douglass a 3 point play and BC adds 2 technical free throws.  Ref just got frustrated with some minor chirping from the Lions bench.  I was close and didn't hear the complaining and Arriel McDonald still got whacked.  Douglas adds another layup.  Prince scores his 1000th point and later adds a dunk on a lob.  Cruise control for most of the half.  Brooklyn Center wins 69-47.

Post Game
Mark Richelsen carries the Providence offense.  He finishes with 16 and is the only Lion in double figures.  Dylan Servais added 9.  Only 2 seniors on the Providence roster with no fewer than 5 sophomores seeing extended time including Richelsen.  The Lions fall to 5-14 overall and 4-5 in the IMAC.  That gives them a 4th place finish as they have 2 wins over St. Paul Academy and Mounds Park Academy but 2 losses to Blake.  Providence has a very strange streak of 7 straight non-conference games to end the regular season.  This was the 1st of those games.  That continues next week as they host CHOF and Holy Family.

Great balance for Brooklyn Center as they have 6 players with 7 or more points.  Devonta Prince passes 1000 career points with 14 of his 18 in the 2nd half to help break the game open.   Soph wing Adreone Sprinkles continues to impress me.  He had 13 points with 3 triples.  Deshawn Pickford was the other Centaur in double figures with 10 points.  Brooklyn Center improves to 14-6 overall, 6-2 in the Tri-Metro.  The Centaurs visit Roosevelt on Saturday.  Then they finish with 4 league games.  That includes 3 tough home games against Fridley, De La Salle and Columbia Heights.
