Jags Lock Down Again

Prologue
Its a showdown in the Metro West with Bloomington Jefferson visiting St. Louis Park.  These teams tied in the loss column with Chaska for 1st in league play.  Jefferson won the 1st meeting by 4 on their home court.  So plenty at stake here.  No Ryan Domres inside for St. Louis Park.  No concessions tonight but we did add on from the weekend.  Tonight's tune comes courtesy of the public address at halftime.

Game Time:
Jack Tillotson 1st 5 of the night inside for Jefferson.  Ray Whitlock for 3 with Mykal Howard adding 2 bombs for a 9-0 St. Louis Park run.  Joe Hird 2 3s and a Tillotson 3 point play as Jefferson has their own 9-0 run.  Tyler Riemersma with a post hoop for a 17-12 Jefferson lead just outside of 10 minutes left.  Jefferson pounding the ball inside effectively.  But their offense goes south from there.  Jack Lynch with 2 putbacks and 2 layups off nice assists for 8 in a row.  Cire Mayfield with 1 of those assists.  Then another to Josiah Morrow just before the break.  27-21 St. Louis Park at half.  They go on a 15-4 run over the last 10 minutes.  Jefferson tried to go zone late in the half but St. Louis Park would have no part of that and hold the ball.  The Orioles getting to the rim off the bounce with great effect.

The second half sees Jefferson really pack in their man to man defense.  They start the half on a 12-2 run with a pair of Riemersma hoops.  Ray Whitlock with a hoop and then a steal that leads to a free throw.  Another turnover leads to 2 more free throws from Richard Green.  That puts St. Louis Park up 39-37 with 5:41 left.  The Orioles offense disappears after that.  Tillotson tips in a miss and then trails the play for a 3 to put Jefferson back on top.  He adds another jumper, John Carlson with a pretty backdoor cut for a layup.  That puts the Jags up 5 with just over 2 minutes left.  Riemersma with a free throw and Tillotson puts back the miss of the 2nd.  Its a 14-2 Jefferson run to finish it.  St. Louis Park held to 4 2nd half field goals and 5 free throws for 14 points.  Jefferson wins 51-41.

Post Game:
St. Louis Park ends up with nobody in double figures.  Jack Lynch with all 8 of his points in the 1st half to lead the Orioles.  They were able to attack the rim in the 1st half but not in the 2nd half.  They had trouble dealing with the size of Jefferson inside.  St. Louis Park falls to 15-6 overall, 6-3 in the Metro West, 1/2 game ahead of Cooper for 3rd.  They are also in a battle for the 3 seed in 6AAAA with Armstrong and Cooper.  The Orioles travel to Bloomington Kennedy on Friday.

Jack Tillotson with 21 points to lead Jefferson.  He had 9 of those in the last 4:35 to put the game away.  Tyler Riemersma adds 12 points.  Another outstanding defensive performance for the Jags.  Great stretch for them as they just knocked off Chaska on Friday.  This game started a stretch of 5 out of 6 on the road to end the season.  They visit Benilde-St. Margaret's on Thursday as they try to keep pace with Chaska.  Jefferson is now 13-7 overall and 7-2 in the Metro West.  Jags still fighting for a home game in the very tough section 2AAAA.
