Falcons fly to a last second win

Prologue
Off to Bethany Academy for their homecoming game against FAIR.  Yes homecoming as remember many schools in the MCAA don't have their own football program.  The Bethany mascot Swoopz makes a special appearance for the festivities. Its also alumni night so the crowd eventually fills in.  A 12 oz bottle of Pepsi goes with a hot dog and bag of Lays chips.  I voting for 12 oz out of a can as better than the bottle.  Interesting to see that Bethany still has the old Holy Trinity Trojans banner hanging (now combined with Lester Prairie) .

Song of the Day
The Wanted - Glad you came

Game Time:
5 all as the teams each score on their 1st 2 trips.  Most of the night we get zone defense so that means you need a shooter.  Soph Sam Peterson doing that for Bethany.  His 2nd 3 ends a 9-0 run to put Bethany up 14-7.  But FAIR has Armani Scott to do work inside against a smallish Bethany lineup.  He scores the next 7 FAIR points as the Falcons go on a 10-3 run.  17-16 Bethany at 10:32.  Peterson's 4th 3 breaks that drought.  His 5th 3 breaks a 22 all tie inside of 5 minutes.  FAIR goes almost 7 minutes without a field goal as Bethany builds a small lead of 35-29 at the half.

Peterson keeps it going in the 2nd half.  He buries 3 more triples in a 14-2 Bethany run.  51-34 Eagles with 13:05 left.  But FAIR blows that lead away with a 17-0 run of their own.  Scott with 8 points in that run as FAIR went to some pressure and forced some turnovers.  Laron Reynolds with a pair of putbacks as FAIR finally gets over the hump for a 55-54 lead.  Scott converts another turnover and FAIR is up 57-54 inside of 4 minutes left.  Total run is 23-3 for the Falcons.  Peterson had a long rest and the timeout gets him back in.  Scott with a tough jumper with 1 minute left and FAIR keeps the lead at 59-56.  Bethany misses 2 free throws, but FAIR falls and gets called for the walk.  On the ensuing BLOB, its America's #1 play and its Peterson in the right corner for 3.  59 all. FAIR will hold and take timeout with 10.5 left to setup 1 final play.  Reynolds will catch in the middle of zone and take it and finish with 3.5 left.  Now some crazy clock work as the clock appears to stop and then restart.  They keep it at 3.5 when it was close to running out.  Then on the inbound the clock starts super late but Peterson can't get a good look.  FAIR comes back from 17 down with 13 minutes left to win 61-59.

Post Game
Bethany falls to 3-18 overall and they're 0-12 in the MCAA.  They lose only 2 seniors from the 9 man rotation.  Sam Peterson's hot shooting kept the offense going.  He had 9 3s on his way to 29 points.  Ben Wedel chips in with 13 inside.  The Eagles finish MCAA regular season play on Tuesday at home against Lester Prairie.

FAIR improves to 6-10 overall.  Armani Scott leads the Falcons with 30 points.  He was too long for the Bethany to handle inside.  Once he caught it down low, it was over.  Laron Reynolds with 14 points, most of those in the 2nd half including the game winner.  Frosh Dameon Jones adding 3 important 3 3s on his way to 9 points.  Their schedule ends with 3 home games starting with Prairie Seeds next Tuesday.
