Tyus Jones is off to Colorado this weekend to participate in a minicamp for the USA Men's 16U team. As listed in this article, many of the nation's elite 14 and 15 year olds (e.g Jahlil Okafor, Jabari Parker and Wisconsin's Jonathon Carson) will be attending. Some of you may recall that stars Quinn Cook and Adonis Thomas arrived at the Best Buy Summer Classic after competing for the USA in Germany in early July. Hopefully we get a local pipeline into that.
Interesting comment from the article "The fun part of this at this age is getting these kids as they prepare for their high school careers and before they really get off on the AAU circuits and high school tournaments." Let's see now, Okafor and Parker have been mentioned for a while now and Jones played at the Peach Jam for Howard Pulley. So this idea that Team USA is jumping in early is seriously nonsense.
Biggest matchup of the Apple Valley season will be when they play the showcase game in the Timberwolves Shootout January 8th against Linn-Mar, IA and top 40 PG Marcus Paige.
