2015 Suburban East Title At Stake

Prologue
Its a final Friday night showdown for the Suburban East title.  #5AAAA Roseville can share the title with a win.  Host #4AAAA Cretin-Derham Hall can take the title outright if they win.  The always quality hot dog is on the menu with a can of Pepsi.  As much as I've praised the individual squeeze packets of ketchup, tonight I ended up wearing.  Major crisis and of course, it was on white pants.  Only fitting.

Game Time:
Sam Neumann with a pair of early 3s for a 9-8 CDH lead.  Kobe Critchley already with a transition 3, he nails another bomb and then goes behind the back to Jesper Horsted for a layup.  A turnover becomes a Mitch Poss layup.  17-9 Roseville at the 13:20 mark.  Critchley to the rack for 2 and Quinn Johnson drives and goes to the tough reverse.  15-3 Roseville run over 5 minutes for a 23-12 lead at the 9:30 mark.  Joe Rosga brings CDH right back with a pair of triples.  Critchley with another 3 countered by a pair of close buckets by Jalan Ousley-Brown.  That starts a 10-3 CDH run over the last 4:10 of the half.  Frank Delaney for 3 and then a blocked shot that turns into a Neumann free throw.  36-32 Roseville at the half.

The CDH momentum continues in the 2nd half.  Neumann in the post, then a chance at at 3 point play.  Then a blocked shot on 1 end leads to a Neumann layup on the other end.  Then he buries a transition 3.  Then Delaney with another block and a tip in on the possession.  45-43 CDH with just over 12 minutes left.  Donnell Gresham for 3 to break a 47 all tie .  Then Poss with the picture perfect pocket bounce pass to Horsted for a layup and Horsted adds 2 free throws.  53-50 Roseville after a 6-0 run, 6:25 to play.  Ousley-Brown drives for 2 to break that run.  Horsted too much inside as he scores inside and puts back another miss.  Then Ousley-Brown with a steal and dunk.  A bad shot for Roseville results in 2 Neumann free throws. 57-56 Roseville 4:08 left as CDH gets the momentum back.  Horsted another stick back.  Then a turnover and extra pass leads to a Gresham 3.  Rosga back in the game with 4 fouls and gets a steal but Critchley takes it back and finds Horsted for a layup.  But its Gresham with another clutch open 3.  62-61 CDH with 1:39 to play.

Roseville goes with a long possession and doesn't get anything.  Roseville ends up with the ball out underneath with 22 seconds left.  Ousley-Brown faceguards Critchley so he doesn't get a touch.  Roseville fumbles it away with 10.2 to go.  Roseville gives a foul on a dangerous long pass to Neumann.  Then Gresham fouled with 9.2 left.  He makes the 1st and misses the 2nd.  Roseville will play without a timeout.  Joh Farmer gets a right wing look at a 3 that is no good.  Cretin-Derham Hall wins 63-61 to win the Suburban East title.

Post Game:
Roseville gets 24 from Jesper Horsted.  He scores 16 of those in the 2nd half and controlled the paint out working anybody CDH had inside.  Kobe Critchley scores 14 of his 18 in the 1st half.  Only 1 FG in the 2nd half.  Mitch Poss had 10 early points but CDH quickly adjusted Jordan Ammons on to him.  He ended with 3 bombs and 13 points.  Nothing from the Roseville bench.  They were tougher on this night, but late execution wasn't their either.  They'll open section 4AAAA play next Wednesday at home as the likely top seed against likely 8 seed North St. Paul.  The Raiders finish 21-5 and 13-3 in the Suburban East.  That's good for 2nd by 2 games.  The loss breaks a 10 game winning streak.

Cretin-Derham Hall continues their hot streak with their 15th straight win.  They are now 19-1 since losing to Mounds View in mid-December.  That loss was a home loss to Hopkins in early January.  CDH has 4 in double figures.  Sam Neumann leads with 18 points and 3 triples.  Donnell Gresham with 3 critical bombs of his own in the 2nd half on his way to 17 points.  That was after not making some looks earlier in the game.  Joe Rosga scores 9 of his 11 in the 1st half.  Jalan Ousley-Brown with 10.  CDH looks like they'll open at home next Wednesday vs Park in the 2 vs 7 game in section 3AAAA.
