Wolves take down the Tri-Hawks

Prologue
Back to The Mall to see Minnesota Transitions host Trinity in a non-conference matchup.  Sparse crowd on hand.  Strange that it was a varsity only event with no JV game.  That means there's plenty of time for Target shopping ahead of time.  OK, maybe not but at least there are options to kill time.   I didn't even smuggle in any concessions.

Game Time:
Trinity very deliberate on offense early in the game against the MTS 2-3 zone.  Meanwhile MTS with 4 early 3s as they showed patience too.  Eamon Naughton 2 hoops to provide Trinity with some offense.  14 all at the 6:55 mark.  All MTS the rest of the half.  Caleb Rush for 3.  Bryce Mills a steal for 2 and his own triple.  A late putback is the last score of the half for MTS.  It concludes a 14-2 run over the last 6:25.  28-16 MTS at the half.

Trinity would rally with a 9-1 run to start the 2nd half.  Eddie Maruggi came off the bench in the 1st half.  But he started the 2nd half and produced a layup off a turnover and knocked down a jumper.  McNaughton with 2 free throws to end that run and it cuts the lead to 4.  But MTS pulls away.  Rush with another 3, Mills for 2, Trinity misses a dunk and its a MTS drive for 2 more.  Isaiah Williams adds bonus free throws to end the 12-3 MTS run.  41-28 MTS with 5:34 left.  Trinity scores the next 6 to gain momentum.  But a pretty backcut from Aaron Martin nets a layup and pushes the lead back to 9 with 3:42 left.  MTS takes 3 quick shots and Trniity cuts the lead to 5 with 1:39 left.  Williams with another backcut for a layup.  Naughton hits a 3 to cut it to 4 but Trinity is out of time.  Williams with 2 free throws and a layup to seal it.  MTS wins 49-41.

Post Game
For Trinity, Luke Lodoen leads the way with 14 points.  Eamon Naughton with 12.  Eddie Maruggi with all 8 of his points in the 2nd half.  Trinity going very young with 5 sophs and 3 freshmen seeing time with 4 upperclassmen.  The youngsters had difficulty finding their offense.  The upperclassmen with 34 of the 41 team points.  They were patient which was good but they did leave some open shots out there.  Trinity falls to 6-15 overall and they are 3-8 in the MCAA.  They play at Bethany on Saturday afternoon with 3rd place in the MCAA South on the line.

For MTS, Isaiah Williams with 2 early 3s and 10 first half points.  Then 4 points to put the game on ice.  He finished with 19 points.  Bryce Mills with 10.  Patient offense from MTS using their simple triangle game but they got a couple nice backcuts out of it that were back breakers.  They go to PACT and host Edison next week.  MTS improves to 7-11 overall.  MTS looking at a mid-level seed in section 4A and should get a Round of 16 home game.
