Thanks to the good folks at St. Anthony, I have this report from the St. Anthony game with Irondale last night If you were at a game and have thoughts you'd like share, you can email me the info and I'll post it. (see my contact page). Concordia-St. Paul, Hamline, St. John's and St. Olaf all in the building last night.
A competitive start with both teams playing up down had it tied 13-13 with 10 mintues left in the first half. The STA offense really bogged down after that and the Knights took advantage and closed the half on a 15-4 run to lead at the break 28-17. Brian Sprang had 13 in the first half, Josh Pratt struggled shooting the ball and had just 7.
Second half began and the Huskies got a Karuza Cooke steal and an Aaron McCrossan 3 to cut it to 6 quickly..but they never really got much closer. Cut it to 5 at 44-39 with about 6 minutes left, but Bryan Sprang stated finding his offense again and the Knights pulled away for a 59-44 win.
For Irondale Brian Sprang with 26, Chad Goodsell added 14 and showed some nice post moves, seems much more polished than he was last year.
For St. Anthony, Josh Pratt struggled shooting the ball but hit some late 3's and was still able to slash to the basket to finish with 18, nobody else in double figures for the Huskies. Derek Jahner didn't start and only had 4 points but provided some solid defense. Jahner is coming off an ankle injury and still might not be 100 percent.
