Defending Champion: Benilde-St. Margaret's
Predicted Seeding:
- Washburn
- Orono
- De La Salle
- Benilde-St. Margaret's
- Waconia
- Holy Angels
- Delano
- Mound-Westonka
WOW! Just when you thought this section couldn't get any tougher. Washburn brings in a couple of really good transfers. Sophomore stars Shelby Moats (Waconia) and Jordan Smith (Orono) will have another year of experience. Holy Angels brings in coach Larry McKenzie. Delano gets transfer Kyle Kreklow. Mound-Westonka is improved. Absolutely brutal. Washburn had to be #1, but I can see 2-5 in any order. Orono looks to be the champ in the Wright County, DLS and BSM are runners-up in their leagues and Waconia will also contend for the crown in the Wright County. While the 4 vs 5 game here has been very good the last 2 years, even the 3 vs 6 and 2 vs 7 games should be quality games. Needless to say the semifinals are already on my 08-09 schedule.
Section Winner: Minneapolis Washburn
I saw that Mound beat Orono in an open gym scrimmage by 15.. I think other than Delano, Mound and waconia are the next in the wright county.
ReplyDeleteDelano will be tough with Claire, and the transfer from Blaine, and I don't see much trouble for them in the wright county. Agree with the Waconia and Mound-Westonka pick but also Orono should be up there. Waconia has been really strong in Fall leageue and I watched Mound-Westonka beat SW Christain by 20 last saturday at SLP, they've played twice this fall, with mound going 2-0 I think. Palkert (who is going D-1, USCU)had a good matchup with (no.33) on Mound. But Orono is always dangerous with Jordan Smith who is a tough matchup with whoever you put on him.(Rumor that Jordan hurt his ankle?) I think this is going to be a good fight for the top 3. But I Haven't seen the bottom teams play in fall league, so i could see 5-9 going any which way.
ReplyDelete1.Delano
2.Mound-Westonka
3.Orono
4.Waconia
5.Glencoe-Silver Lake
6.Watertown-Mayer
7.Litchfield
8.Annandale
9.Dassel-Cokato
Delano will be good but i heard waconia will be a very good team and hard to beat... they have a good inside out game with shelby moats down low, they also have many good shooters to knock down 3 pointers
ReplyDeleteI saw mound play 6 times this fall... 6-0 including that SW Christian blow out. I also saw Orono this fall, and Jordan looked good and they havve more depth than people think. And of corse DELANO looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteI take that back... Mound went 5-1. I saw them lose in a close one to chisago lakes. Although #41 was out(Brandon Host I believe) with a minor injury and he seemed to be one of the main sources of scoring, and Ollie White had a tough matchup with Figini...
ReplyDeleteall you definately under estimated waconia. They're confrence champs and are on a 12 game winning streak. They will also be confrence champs the next two years.
