Apple Valley announces new head coach

Assistant Zach Goring takes over at Apple Valley for Mike Fritze. Here's the press release.

AV GRADUATE ZACH GORING SELECTED TO LEAD THE EAGLES.

Apple Valley, June 10, 2009: Apple Valley High School is pleased
to announce that Zach Goring has been hired as the head boys basketball coach.
He replaces Mike Fritze, who resigned the position in April.

Goring is a 7-year assistant coach for AVHS Boys’ Basketball. He is a 1995
graduate of AVHS and is the school’s all time leader in assists. He also holds
records for assists in a season and assists in a game. Goring was a 3-year letter
winner in basketball. During his junior and senior seasons, his teams won two
Lake Conference titles and he was named to the All-Conference team both
seasons. He was also a two-year letterman in baseball.

After graduation from Apple Valley, Goring attended St. Olaf College in
Northfield for one year before transferring to St. Cloud State University.
During Goring’s senior year, he helped lead the Huskies to the NCAA Division
II National Basketball Tournament.

After his graduation from college, he served as an assistant coach at St. Cloud
State University. During Goring's time as an assistant coach at AVHS, he has
been a part of two state tournament teams in 2007 (3rd place) and 2009. The
2007 team also won the conference title.
