08-09 Week 6 Thursday Showdowns

Some thoughts from the games of 1/6/09. A couple of league contenders fall.

Jefferson slays the 1st dragon with a win at Burnsville. The Blaze get 30 from Devon Knopke, but the Alipates combine for 39 as Jefferson wins the 2nd half by 8 in a 7 point win. That makes a mess of the Lake Conference race as you now have Burnsville, Chaska and Eden Prairie all with 1 loss. Only 4 undefeated teams remain in AAAA.

No team in the Lake is on fire more than Lakeville North. They won their 8th in a row last night with a win over Eastview. Dajon Newell with 13 as he continues to have a nice season for the Panthers. That offset 26 from Eastview's Vinard Birch. Lakeville North only 1 game back with Jefferson. A whole truckload of teams 2 games back with Eagan at 0-5 in the basement.

Alex Richter with 21 as he continues to get it done for Lakeville South. They got a 6 point win over Farmington.

Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity slays the other dragon with a 70-67 double OT win at SW Christian. Caleb Palkert with 19 and 12 with 5 stls and 7 blocks for SW Christian. Chris Neumann with 31 for Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity. LP/HT with the inside track now to the MCAA regular season title as they host New Life next Thursday (they have already beaten MCA). The only other possible hiccup is a home game with West Lutheran on February 3rd.

Roosevelt was within 10 of Henry at the break, but Henry turns it on in the 2nd half for a 40 point win. Jordan Hughes with 36 for the Patriots.

North lost by 15 to Washburn, but Kevin Thompson is a beast. He had 19 points to lead all scorers in that game.

Sophomore Jonah Travis with 15 for DLS as they beat Blake by 6. AJ Barker with 27 to lead the way for DLS. David Nash with 27 for Blake.

  1. Jonah actually had 17 points 12 boards and 7 blocks. He also had a two handed dunk in traffic.

Roosevelt had a 5 minute stretch where they had about 15 turnovers and that blew the game wide open in the second half.

    Richter is a machine.

Kevin Thompson is a complete player, have you heard if he is getting any interest?

  2. As to Thompson, I haven't heard if he's getting any interest anywhere.

Jonah is a stud. Not sure if there's a sophomore that I like better than him. Other nominees would include Richter and Marvin Singleton.

Roosevelt turnovers makes sense. Henry thrives on their little guards swiping away.
